What I Wore

One of my new favorite things to shop for is natural history themed clothing that I can wear to work. Working at a museum that also is a research institution, the options are endless. I have a few insect blouses, a botanical dress, a bee bobby pin, a butterfly belt, and even a bird dress. My coworker is the reigning queen of bird dresses, and together we are always seeking out new items that compliment our love for natural history.

Tidebuy reached out to me to review a product, and once I saw this starfish blouse, I knew it would be perfect for work as a nod to the museum's division of invertebrates. Blouses can be stuffy, but put a natural history pattern on them and it makes it a little fun and very fitting for the museum. So naturally, I had to take photos of this great blouse at the museum! 

I never felt it in Florida, but in Chicago I definitely sense the change in seasons. As soon as spring came, summer shortly followed it. I wanted to be outside at restaurants and festivals, out and about with friends after a winter spent inside. And now, after a full and complete Chicago summer, I am ready to spend time in fall clothes, partaking in autumn traditions, and I'm looking forward to the quiet winter at home ahead. These past two weekends have been low-key, spent around the apartment, close to home. It's true that the older you get, the more responsibilities you take on, inevitably. These days, my time is worth so much to me, so I really appreciate the weekends that I have no where to be, the only plans are to be home with my dog, and some close friends.

More time at home means more cooking. I was helping out with the edible garden at the museum and brought home a zucchini. I've been making zucchini a lot lately, so I tried something I haven't made before, zucchini bread! It was quite delicious and made for the perfect afternoon snack with tea at my desk. However, when I first took it out of the oven, I had a little mis-hap and burned my arm pretty badly. You might be able to see my bandage in one of the photos above, but I was trying to discreetly keep it out of frame. Oh well, I'll continue to cook and bake, especially with the holidays around the corner.
