↳It's spring! We moved the bird feeder from the side of the house near the porch to the backyard and we already see more birds. A cardinal couple have been visiting and eating our seeds and I hope they tell their friends.
↳We have been snacking before dinner in the backyard with a cookbook for me to read for inspiration and the NY Times for S, a new subscription for us. I always take the Travel section first, and then S will hand me any other articles he thinks I will enjoy, like the article on Kiernan Shipka from Mad Men.
↳I mentioned that I've been burning essential oils lately instead of candles. Here is my newest oil burner, using it outside with a mix of citronella and bergamot to keep the mosquitoes away.
↳I took this same photo months ago at dusk with my Minolta SLR film camera. I'm interested to see how they differ once I take enough film photos to get the roll processed.
Since my cousin has left, I've had to get back into the swing of things. I have been trying to stay productive. I've been very good about running every other day, and now I even run with a friend! Waking up a little earlier in the mornings is so worth it because I run around the lake and everything is really quiet. I love running on Sunday mornings, when everyone else is sleeping in, and I can recognize the blue bags on the driveways of our neighbors that also subscribe to the Times.
Time itself is moving really fast. How is it April already? Many of my co-workers graduate in May and things will drastically change then. I'm trying to appreciate small moments so that maybe time will feel a little slower.

awww, i love your photos and your backyard looks perfectly wonderful! So relaxed!
ReplyDeletethank you nicole! with the onset of spring, i was most definitely inspired to take photos again. it comes in phases for me!
DeleteI love your little backyard set up! And your NYT readings sound similar to what ours were when we subscribed (we only got the Sunday edition, but eventually we cancelled our subscription because the delivery service was so unreliable and we wouldn't get our paper for weeks). Travel and Style and Real Estate for me, plus the Book Review. Honestly, I think sharing the paper over cheese and crackers with a nice glass of wine is THE definition of "wedded bliss." ;) xo
ReplyDeletethank you erin! the next step for our backyard is to bring in some hedges to a little privacy, since we are a corner lot.
Deletewe only get the sunday edition too. when our subscription expires, we will probably go to starbucks up the block every weekend to get the NYTs:)
beautiful. I feel like I enjoy spring more every year. and that it becomes somehow more important every year.
ReplyDeleteme as well! every year when spring turns into summer, i always look forward to winter and i forget how wonderful spring is until it comes back around.
DeleteI love it when the birds are out and chirping!
ReplyDeleteWe have a little mockingbird constructing another nest in one of our bushes. Last time she built one, a snake was encroaching on her territory and she kept squawking until my husband came out and made the snake move away.
I love the photos!
I can't believe April is almost over.... how did this happen? 2015, you're moving too fast.
aw how sweet! i love when birds are around. snakes too, but i'd rather have the birds over the snakes. if only i could keep the squirrels away from my bird seed though!
Deleteand i completely agree... how is it may this week? i realized today that i need to firm up cinco de mayo plans with my friends and graduation plans with my coworkers!
your home looks so inviting and summery. i love your pot belly stove! and i really like you mixture for repelling mosquitoes and i definitely going to try that this summer. xo
ReplyDeletethanks much christine! our house is very much a florida bungalow.
