I am excited to share a quick look into our new home! The bedroom and studio/office are still coming together with just a handful of more boxes to unpack and art to hang on the walls. I'll definitely share photos after those rooms come together this week. Other than that - it feels like home! We haven't painted yet, but we're thinking of holding off for a little while until we settle in. We're really leaning toward this gorgeous gray/pastel shade of green called Chinese Jade from Behr. I used Behr in our last home and really loved the paint and primer in one. It's also a very particular shade of green that we're going for, and Behr has an app that matches the paint color from a photo and I think we got it pretty close!
As for the entire moving experience, as much as it was a whirlwind, we've been able to enjoy each day as it comes and goes. We rented a huge truck for our two bedroom apartment and with the help of five guys, we loaded the truck in three hours, and unloaded it in 30 minutes. I remember trying to make room for more boxes at the new house, and then going outside to load more in, and suddenly the truck was empty. It was incredible how fast we unloaded. We've found a home for almost all of our items, including decorations and wall art, and even made use of our attic for storing holiday decorations. The house looked kind of small when it was empty, but as soon as we started arranging our furniture, the rooms feel spacious and cozy. Our furniture looks like it belonged here all along!

You can see some new additions like the rug (from Urban Outfitters) to make the hardwood floors in the living room a little more cozy, as well as the elevated dog bowl (from Sierra Trading Post) in anticipation of the newest member of our family, Mordechai! I shared a photo of him when we met him on my Instagram if you missed it. He's a retired racing greyhound who is 3 years old, and we're adopting him soon! I have another post coming documenting our adoption process for those that might be interested in fostering or adopting greyhounds.
So many friends and family are moving or adopting pets that I know and it's kind of surreal. It's exciting to be going through this change with everyone, kind of like we're all in it together. The stress of packing, moving day, unpacking, nesting, prepping for new pets... it's a never-ending to-do list! Both S and I are so excited to share our home with a dog. We daydream about where Mordechai's numerous beds will be, where we'll take him for walks, the toys we'll buy him...

Congrats on all the exciting events!! What a whirlwind indeed. I'm so happy you went the adoption route, especially for a breed that needed it! I can tell you from my own adoption experience, your pup won't be entirely perfect, but you take the good with the...frustrating habits, and he will make it all worth it the first time he crawls next to you and falls asleep with his head in your lap. Fitz can be a handful sometimes, but I never regret adopting him! Spoil him with lots of toys and attention and cuddles!! xo
ReplyDeletethanks erin! when we spoke with the adoption group, they said that they adopt out around 100 greyhounds per year, and while i wish that the number was higher, i am so thankful for all of those dogs finding homes! we rescued the beagle that i grew up with from the pound, and although he had his fair share of quirks (he didn't like children) he was a wonderful dog and i'm so glad he ended up with us, just like i'm glad we can make a home for at least one greyhound out of all of them. i definitely cannot wait for the endless doggie cuddle sessions once he settles in!
DeleteCongrats on the new home and dog! I'll be moving into another apartment and hope that it takes me 30 minutes to unload as well!
ReplyDeletethank you! i hope you have a quick and successful move! only one or two of our things broke, and they were pretty easy to fix and not that valuable - pretty lucky!
DeleteYour house looks so cute all put together. I feel like every month I am redecorating some type of room in our house or organizing it. Its a constant battle/struggle lol
ReplyDeletethank you samantha! and we are definitely the re-arranging type! i think we found a great flow for our furniture, but our decor is the ever-moving kind! it's totally great though - the decor in new places can sometimes feel like new!
DeleteI love your decor and all the plants! I am slowly collecting house plants too :)
ReplyDeletethank milynn! if you can believe it, we've acquired even more plants since taking these photos. but the house looks so green, i love it!
Deletecongratulations on your new home and pup! Cam and I are driving up to Ithaca soon to move into our first apartment (2 more weeks!) and I can already tell it's going to be a huge project. so I'm very impressed with how smoothly your move seems to have gone ;)
ReplyDeletethanks and best of luck on your move! i hope yours goes just as smoothly! and i have to say, going from a 2nd floor to a one story house was the challenge - not sure i'll ever want to live on the 2nd (or higher!) floor again :)
Deleteyour house looks wonderful! i love the door in the living room, so charming. and congrats on your new family member. i echo what erin said, so happy that you chose to rescue and it's no doubt that he will no doubt come with his own quirks - some which might drive you bonkers. but really, when marla drives me bonkers (like licking my feet obsessively) i just think "where would she be if she wasn't here?" and my heart goes from annoyed to so grateful that we all have each other to love (and lick - well, her, we don't lick each other or her). xo
ReplyDeletethank you christine! it is such a cute door, i love opening the window next to it (only in the cool mornings) to look out to our porch and the neighbors walking by with their dogs or running with friends. it's such a lively neighborhood! as for the dog, i am so excited for his quirks! surely, i will probably be banging my head when having to train him not to pull on the leash or if he barks, etc, but like you said, i know all of the love he brings will be all worth it :)
DeleteHi Yelle! Pleasure to make your acquaintance. Oh my gosh...your home is absolutely amazing!! I love it. I especially love that cool-as-hell insect wall :)
ReplyDeletethank you! i do love collecting insects and although it may through some people off, i always love when others can appreciate them!
DeleteSo much excitement for you guys. I have to say, your move sounds like the smoothest ever, am I dreaming that? And your sweet home looks like a dream too. And oh, sweet puppers. All of our dogs have been rescues. It's just the best way. The very best. Can't wait for you.
ReplyDeleteit went a lot smoother than i expected! but then again, i anticipated the worst, being that we were on the 2nd floor, without shade, in the middle of the florida summer. however, we moved to a one story house, under shaded oak trees, and it went so quickly! it was dreamy.
DeleteCongrats on the new home & dog! The place looks absolutely lovely. I'm especially loving that wall with all the insects, and the rug!
ReplyDeletethank you melissa! the rug was such a great deal, and definitely makes the place a little cozier :)
