Recently my cousin and I were reminiscing about how we'd always spend the holidays with family. She said, "Every year I remember when I was really small and could fit under your tree downstairs and how I used to look up at all the lights and ornaments." I could see it too. And to this day, the smell of a fresh pine tree for Christmas is the one thing that gets me in the holiday spirit.

The way the real tree smelled and how the pine needles would get all over the floor and stick in my socks, that's what winter is. Being around family this past weekend reminded me so much of how wonderful it is that holidays bring loved ones together. Thanksgiving is over but I already am looking forward to enjoying Christmas.

Happy December. It's the most wonderful time of the year.
Happy december! Oh, how I love this season! :)

ReplyDeleteHappy December, Yelle! Your comment made me smile so wide, thank you so much for your kind words :) I am so glad you happened upon my blog because now I have found yours! I was thinking the exact same thing about spending time with loved ones this past weekend.. I wish we had more holidays spread throughout the year so we could get together with our family more often!
ReplyDeleteI've got the same memory triggers: intoxicating smell from the fir trees, pine needles everywhere, bent branches from the heavy decorations, firecrackers and the smell of sour cabbage pie <3
