With our wedding coming up quickly, I wanted to share our trip to the courthouse to get our marriage license! It was another monumental check off of our wedding to-do list. Of course, like many things at the courthouse, we had to wait in line for a while, and then in a waiting room. While in the waiting room, there were girls wearing smiles and casual white dresses while their men wore their best pants and maybe even a tie. If love was made in a factory, this would be it. Even in the mundane frustration of waiting in line and waiting for your turn to be called, there was still excitement and smiles.

We waited, and finally when it was our turn and we were called, the clerk didn't rush us, she took the time to answer any question we had, or to find someone that knew the answer if she didn't. All that's left is to have our officiant notarize it and date it on our wedding day. Then we send it back and it's official! Easy enough. I wish the same could be said for changing my name - but that's a different monster to tackle on a different day.
oh my god yay! this is sooo exciting :) you both look so happy! another thing checked off the wedding to-do list right haha? it will all get done, name change included :)

so exciting! changing your name can be a hassle, but if you do it right away it will be much easier. I waited over a year for some things [passport, bank accounts] and it was a pain to have to go back and get copies of everything more than once. though I do always love seeing the courthouse wedding couples...
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I'm so tempted to just go to City Hall and call it a day. Quick and dirty, haha. I've seen groupons recently for a service that takes care of all the name change nonsense and headaches. Something called 'From Ms. to Mrs.' or something, and you basically give them all your info and they take care of everything for you. I think. I don't know. Might be worth looking into! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat's such a sweet picture of you too! You both look totally jazzed :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that the happiness of others can make an otherwise boring-to-negative experience of a waiting room, more enjoyable. Now, if only they could bottle such a feeling and introduce it to, say, dentists waiting rooms??

Yay for checking off something on the massive to do list! We had to wait in line in a hot somewhat smelly trailer to get ours... probably the least romantic part of the whole marriage thing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I remember getting our marriage license just around the same time last year. Actually I think it was this exact day. Hopefully all the planning is done and you can just focus on the excitement!
ReplyDeleteOh man... This brings back so many memories of getting my marriage license with Luis. I wasn't blogging back then, so no pictures exist of that moment, unfortunately. Don't get too stressed about the name changing situation. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to seem. I went to the Social Security office as the first step and I had such a nice man do it for me. I was in and out in a half hour! Good luck with everything!!
ReplyDeleteI´m so excited for you! :D I wish you two the best! You two look incredibly happy! <3
ReplyDeleteOooh congrats! It's those little things that are such great memories when you look back on things:)
