Traditions + Engagement Photos

I hope that everyone had the most wonderful Thanksgiving! Being that this is a time of family + friends, I am feeling very lovey right now and thought I would share with you our engagement photos. Naturally, we chose the most wonderful photographer in the central Florida area, Kellie of KWU Weddings. Her style and quality is all kinds of gorgeous, and perfect for what we wanted to do for our engagement session: shopping at an antique store
One of our favorite weekend past times is antiquing and scouring thrift stores for pre-loved items. It's a tradition for us to even take trips alone to the antique shops this time of the year in order to find holiday gifts for the family and most often for each other.
This particular shop is called The French Nest and unfortunately is no long on its own, however it is inside a sort of vintage mall called Adjectives. The shop owner was so nice to let us photograph this special moment there. We chose this shop because it reminded us of everything we love, natural textures, animal bones, vintage treasures, and exploring new worlds. Every time I look through this shops wares is like being back in Paris, France and stumbling upon a new street or a new restaurant. Every thing is so new and refreshing, so unique and hard to describe. It is unlike anything else.
This Thanksgiving we were lucky enough to have both sets of our grandparents in south Florida host the best meal of the year. Last year we spent Thanksgiving with my grandparents, so this year we spent Thanksgiving with his grandparents (and of course hit my grandparents house up for desserts and Italian coffee of course). I will update with photos from this holiday soon. It is every good hostess' dream to have their family and friends over to their own home one year for Thanksgiving dinner.
I am so thankful to have my family, my S, his family, all of our wonderful friends, and the stage that we are in our lives. For us this is truly an exciting time, and everyday I try to remember to enjoy these days because things will be so different very soon! Enjoy your weekend with your families and friends, and I hope that you are experiencing so much love these days!
Salut, Yelle

  1. Stunning! You two make an adorable couple! And what a unique and so "you" an idea for an Engagement shoot. I've never seen engagement photos like this, and I probably won't again! You guys really picked such a special place for these, and you both look so happy! A lot of engagement photos end up looking cheesy or staged, but you two avoided that by a mile! Did you buy a memento to remind you of the day?

  4. These are such sweet photos!
I know what you mean about hitting up the antique markets looking for gifts for your SO. Unfortunately I don't currently have a car, and so one of my big gift ideas (a vintage typewriter!) has been put on hold. It's so hard to shop for my guy when he's right there, haha! old stuff makes the best gifts though, there's a story to it, and it isn't as likely to "poof", go out of style like the "cool" thing for this christmas, or become obsolete like new technology (erm, does it count if it's already obsolete, but just SO CHARMING?!).

  5. So sweet! You obviously picked the best man for you in the world, how many guys would be excited to get to have photos in an antique store because it represents them? That is just fantastic on so many levels, you look happy and beautiful and soo comfortable and at peace with each other. Perfect & Lovely.
