Our Fair City: Lukas Nursery Butterfly Encounter

These photos were from the summer time, when the sun was bright. We are still really only doing outdoor activities with our little one, but this butterfly encounter at a local garden nursery was a great adventure for all of us. The enclosure let some light in and had winding paths with butterfly friendly plants all around. There was one section in particular where we could put something syrupy on our hands for butterflies to land on us and "eat."

When we visit Lukas Nursery, we always walk away with a new plant (or plants). This past year, our first year owning a home, we've bought more plants than usual. We've added fragrant almond bushes to the side of the house, and now want to add more to the backyard. We've got one indoor fiddle leaf fig, and two just outside our entryway. For my birthday a year ago, I was given a big, beautiful monstera plant that reminds me of some of my favorite tropical places. We added two bougainvilleas to the backyard, with dreams of it growing and cascading over the gazebo like they do in the south of Spain.

Our little one has had me laughing so much these days. As she gets older, her growing logic shows itself in the things she says, some of them being remarkable, some of them being silly. Sometimes she strings words together in an unfamiliar grammatical structure and it sounds straight Shakespearean. She is a delight, even on days when I'm dead tired, or getting over a sickness, or even taking care of her in her own sickness (a daycare special!) - she brightens each day.
