Weekend Recap @ Home

This past weekend it hit me that January is nearly over, and now we are down to double digits until our wedding. Today makes 96 days. I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling like, where did January go?
It's so nice to start our days slow: slowly make cups of coffee, slowly make something to eat, slowly get a start on errands... It's nice to take it slow with an easy meal like waffles when you have a new waffle maker. This past weekend we whipped up some waffles, sneaked a little vanilla extract in the batter, and instead of syrup we topped our waffles with chocolate and hazelnut spread (Nutella). A sweet start to a day.
After slow weekend mornings, every week it feels like we accomplish something for the wedding. For a while it was something that we set a date for, put on the back burner, and figured we would think about it later since we have so much time to plan it. Well, now that we have 3 months left, it feels crunch time.
Recently our friend finalized the invitation designs, set up with our other friend who works at a letter press company to get them printed, and ordered big things like bridal party gifts and our wedding bands. It was really awesome to go to the letterpress studio and see how the whole process of printing will be. The studio had huge machines for pressing, cutting, inking, and even aqua-tinting. It seems surreal right now and hard to imagine how the invitations will finally look in our hands.
Other than that, weekends are a time for us to relax and recoup for the busy weeks. On Sunday morning we spent it listening to the radio and S played mandolin on the balcony while I sipped my coffee and flipped through a magazine. It was so nice to take an unintended break from TV, Netflix, and our computers.
Also, I'm itching to buy new glasses. I'm really loving the tortoise shell look, so I don't think I'm choosing from the batch that I tried on. I've been looking around the web for tortoise shell glasses in the shape of the favorite pair from that post. This time I'm going to do all of the upgrades that I normally do like progressive bifocals, UV protection, anti-reflection, ultra-thin, etc. I will definitely have to do a proper update with the glasses once I find them!
I wish that you all have a story-worthy week!
Adieu, Yelle

  3. Aw what a fun time! My sister's wedding is I. march and it has come up SO fast it's insane! I feel a little overwhelmed with all the things I need to do still as MoH, I can't imagine how my sister and mom are feeling! Such a busy but fun time!

I also need to get some glasses and I agree that tortoise shell are super cute. I haven't had glasses since high school so I'm really looking forward to trying a bunch of different kinds on and picking out what I love best!

    Happy Monday!

  5. I love love love your watch! And I am totally jealous you have a waffle maker. I am constantly complaining about the lack of waffles in my apartment. Are you crazy stressed about the wedding? I still have until August to get all of my plans in order, but I feel like I am already procrastinating!

  8. I remember planning my wedding. We actually got engaged in May, and planned a September wedding. Planning was hectic, but we got everything done in two months. :) It's amazing what you can do, really, in short periods of time. Things will definitely come together, don't worry. There is no need to stress! Unrelated, I, too, have a waffle maker. I love it. I really enjoy making waffles for breakfasts on the weekends. I typically chop up some blackberries or raspberries and include those in the batter as well.

  9. Ha, that last picture--that's about what I see without glasses on. My eyes are so terrible. I got glasses from Warby Parker and I'm so in love with them. They did the ultra-thin lenses for me for an extra 30 bucks, but I noticed that the try-on pair was a lot smaller than the real pair.

Waffles and magazines, sounds like the perfect weekend :)

  12. that first photo is so great! loooove your watch!

i feel like january is always my slowest month of the year and this one is no exception. we usually start getting a random sunny day here and there in february so i am sure once that happens time will move swiftly again. but slow is good. i can't imagine how quickly the next few months will be for you such an exciting time! xo

  13. Depending on how much you want to spend, I would check out Bonlook. They have a really amazing pair of tortoiseshell glasses that I have been lusting over for a while. They're called Honeybadger and you can take a look here: http://www.bonlook.com/product/honeybadger-chocolate-tortoise

Good luck with the rest of your wedding plans!

  14. It's such an exciting time as the months come closer to the wedding date. I know that I was stressed just the last week, and I am not someone who stresses. As long as everything is organized well in advanced ( which is practically your job) you should be stress free. I'm excited for you! I assume you do have your dress already?

  15. You gave me a right scare with that last photo, I thought my eyes had failed me! Whew :) That breakfast you had looks delicious, but then again, you could put a waffle in front of me at any point of the day and I'd wolf it down! xoxo

  16. Looks like such a lovely weekend! Lately we've been reading a lot more instead of turning the tv on, which at first was a little weird, but I am totally loving now!
I look forward to seeing your new glasses. I desperately need new driving/distance glasses but have been putting it off forever, and you've reminded me I need to get my but in gear!
